OurBeliefs

At Abba's House DFW, everything centers on Jesus. We exist to help people encounter the Father's love, follow Jesus wholeheartedly, and live daily in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit — in our homes, our families, and our community.

Woman being baptised

One God — Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit

We believe in one true God who reveals Himself as the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19 (ESV)
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

2 Corinthians 13:14 (ESV)
"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."

The Bible Is God's Word

We believe the Bible is inspired by God, completely true, and given to reveal who He is and how we are to live.

2 Timothy 3:16–17 (ESV)
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

Jesus Christ — Born of a Virgin, Crucified, Buried, and Raised on the Third Day

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God — born of a virgin, fully God and fully man, who lived without sin, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

Matthew 1:23 (ESV)
"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel."

John 14:6 (ESV)
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (ESV)
"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures."

Salvation Is a Gift of Grace

We believe salvation is a free gift of God's grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through Him we are forgiven, made new, and adopted into God's family.

Ephesians 2:8–9 (ESV)
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

The Holy Spirit Lives in Believers

We believe the Holy Spirit fills and empowers believers to follow Jesus, grow in holiness, and minister through spiritual gifts. We believe the gifts of the Spirit are active today and must always be used to glorify Jesus — never to exalt a person.

Acts 1:8 (ESV)
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

1 Corinthians 12:4–7 (ESV)
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good."

1 Corinthians 12:11 (ESV)
"All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills."

Galatians 5:22–23 (ESV)
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

The Church Is the Bride of Christ

We believe the Church is the Bride Jesus loves, sanctifies, and will return for.

Ephesians 5:25–27 (ESV)
"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish."

Revelation 19:7 (ESV)
"Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready."

Baptism and Communion

We believe baptism publicly declares that we belong to Jesus and have been raised into new life in Him. We take communion to remember His body and blood given for us.

Romans 6:4 (ESV)
"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life."

Luke 22:19–20 (ESV)
"And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.' And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, 'This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.'"

God Heals and
Works Miracles Today

We believe Jesus still heals, restores, delivers, and works miracles today through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 13:8 (ESV)
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."

Acts 10:38 (ESV)
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him."

Mark 16:17–18a (ESV)
"And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Jesus Will Return

We believe Jesus will return for His Bride and make all things new.

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 (ESV)
"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord."

Revelation 21:1–4 (ESV)
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.'"

Our Mission

We believe we are called to love God, love people, and make disciples — carrying the presence of Jesus wherever we go.

Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

JESUS IS THE CENTER

Jesus is the center of our lives, our families, and our community. He is eternal and fully God. He is the Lamb of God, the Word made flesh, the image of the invisible God, and the King of Kings who reigns forever.

John 1:2–5 (ESV)
"He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

John 1:29 (ESV)
"The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'"

Colossians 1:15–17 (ESV)
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
